The youngest town of the
seacoast is situated on the south side of Tasaul Lake and on the isthmus
located between this side and Siutghiol lake, in the riverbed of Poarta
Alba - Midia - Navodari Canal respectively, inaugurated on 21st November
1987.
Navodari town was built instead
of Navodari fishmongers' village 22 years ago. Today it is an important
industrial town, a representative for Romanian chemistry; here there
are: chemical fertilizers factory, a factory for producing sugar, car
repairs factory and PETROMIDIA factory specialized in petrochemical
products, unique in the country.
Navodari was inaugurated on
29th June 1979, but the building began in 14th of August 1975. The town
has developed in industrial, social and cultural fields; in the center
of the town there have been built a children's town between 1969-1972
holiday time accommodations, facilities for doing sports etc. - 12,000
visitors can be accommodated here (it is considered the biggest facility
of this type in the world).
Navodari town population is
33,702 inhabitants on 1st January 1996, compared to 5,500 inhabitants in
1968.
