The
Folk Art Museum has over 16,000 exhibits from all the ethnographic Romanian
regions.
The
various collections show typical Romanian folk costume, the interiors of typical peasant's
homes, materials used in home. There are also household and other tools made of
wood and metal, as well as pieces of furniture, pieces for worship and for
ceremonies.
The
museum has different halls, each of them illustrating a particular type of
traditional folk product:

On
the ground floor, is shown the valuable collection of icons on glass.
The pieces come from the best known rural and urban workshops of Transilvania, dating from the XVIIIth - XIXth
centuries;

Ceramic
collection (Ceramics of the Iza Valley Maramures, Kuty Ceramics Moldova, Vama
Oas Ceramics), are made through the technique of scratch-working floral and
phytomorphyc motifs;

The
creative use of metals is displayed by the collection of household
implement;

Wooden
exhibits (the tools and utensils of domestics textile industry, the ceremonial
implements);

The
large woolen decorative fabrics (pillow cases, bed sheets,
towels, and rugs);

Four
halls are dedicated to the exhibition of the festive folk costumes (the
different types of woman's costumes from the various regions.
In
the shop, you can buy traditional handicrafts made by artisans from all over the
country.
Visiting
this museum, you will be transported for few moments into a space full of
Romanian spirituality.
